About

Hey, I’m Mike.

I started ClearStack Finance out of pure frustration honestly. I had a degree in computer engineering, a decent job, and absolutely no clue what to do with my money beyond paying rent and hoping my card didn’t decline at the grocery store.

Nobody taught me this stuff. Not school, not my parents, not my job. I had to figure it out the hard way, which meant years of dumb mistakes, ignored savings accounts, and way too much month left at the end of my money.

So I started writing things down. What worked, what didn’t, what I wish someone had told me when I was 22 sitting in my first apartment with no budget and too many subscriptions.

That’s what this site is. It’s not a corporation. It’s not a team of financial experts. It’s just me, writing about money in a way that actually makes sense for people who are still figuring it out.

I’m based in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and I work in data analytics. Finance is not my job title but it became my obsession after I finally stopped being scared of my own bank account.

One thing I want to be upfront about: I am not a licensed financial advisor. Nothing on this site is financial advice. It’s just what I’ve learned, what worked for me, and what the research actually says. Always talk to a professional before making big money decisions.
